Friendly Visitor

This is a neighbour's cat that seems to have adopted us. He often wanders in and loudly announces his presence. I like cats that talk with you. Sometimes - like today I just found he had entered the open kitchen door and was fast asleep in the middle of the kitchen. Once he was shut in for a couple of hours as I didn't realise he'd stealthily crept into the bedroom and made himself very comfortable on the bed. It's nice to have a cat around but although he strops around my ankles scent marking me he's not a 'sit on your lap for a cuddle' kind of cat. He's a bit aloof. Maybe that's because he's a posh cat and knows his status.

What a gorgeous cat. How flattered you should be that you were "chosen" to be visited and even more flattering that he could fall asleep at your place. They wouldn't do that just anywhere. LOL. Thanks for the pic!

Now you be careful Cats sometimes adopt two or three families in the same street...

and are called by different names

Its a Whatchamacallit legend (urban) just remembered as I did the word verification

I live with a cat like that. She regularly adopts neighbours, then comes home, fickle as ever.

glad you have company - my cat's very aloof - they quite often are, arn't they? Might be worth checking that he doesnt belong to anyone else who's frantic to find him..

Well this cat has a regular home - not very far from me - but it doesn't have a sunny, bird filled garden - so that's why he visits often. He goes home to be fed, groomed and I assume gives out cuddles to his mum.

I Wwas just going to ask whether he stayed overnight. One of my sister's three cats hated the other two and just moved out lock, stock. She is still seen every now and then, but as far as the cat is concerned, the relationship is over.

He looks like an American Ragdoll I think? My daughter had two who were exactly like that - they hated to sit on laps but loved to sit on the desk while she worked; my son had a moggy who regularly disappeared; one day he came back with a collar showing a (wrong) name and (wrong) address. the "new owners" were most put out as he had been living half his life with them!

No Mark - I wouldn't allow him to do B&B. He is left out overnight though and often sleeps on the front door mat here. I always preferred to keep my cats in at night as I like to protect the early birds catching the worms and I hated the idea of what small mammals they could drag through the catflap while I slept.More often alive rather than dead. ugh!

Janejill - welcome - nice to meet you. Thanks for your comment - I just call him posh cat as I had no idea what 'brand' he is. My cats were always plain moggies. But then they were much more chatty, affectionate and very people orientated than this superior being. I've never had a cat prefer to move out and live with someone else - I would be so hurt if they had - but that's where they are superior over dogs - they 'choose' to remain with you (or not).

The posh cat been in my garden again today - trying to catch the squirrels. I've been told he's a Birman as he has Chocolate leggings and white socks. I've also found out that the Ragdolls are called that as they go limp when you pick them up?!

Elegant cat from the same stable as Posh cat is a Ragdoll - there's a photo of her on:

She no longer visits after I threw sticky sultanas out to feed the birds and she got covered in them! I expect they took a bit of groominng to get them out - ouch.
