Panic Attacks in the North

Panic Attacks appear to be catching. The news is full of people queueing to get their money out of Northern Rock bank. They can't see that to demand their money back now will cause even more mayhem. I heard Angela Knight on the Today programme this morning. Now unlike her last appearance on that programme when she really got up my nose, this morning I thought she sounded calm, caring and reassuring. However, no matter who they haul out to speak on the TV/radio about Northern Rock Bank security I can't help thinking 'well, they would say that wouldn't they'.

I must admit to being not entirely calm - I've had few palpitations and extra trips to the loo - as NR bank is my chosen institution for the large majority of my savings. They have been the most efficient bank I've dealt. I hope they are able to turn this situation around and calm my beating heart.

I'll be hoping for the best for you. I hate when these things happen. We've been experiencing lots of foreclosures here in the states

HNL, you're a borrower, the worst that can happen is that you have to remortage.

LT, if I were you I'd get round there sharp-ish.

I think I'm blessed or cursed. The Swiss government came to read my blog today or yesterday.

HNL, how d'you find that out?

That reminds me of a funny story. A friend of mine sent a photo of himself with a military peaked cap on (and his willy hanging out of his trousers) to a friend, and as sender on the envelope he wrote "Argentinian Consulate" followed by his actual home address.

Unfortunately, the addressee had moved, and the letter got returned to the actual real life consulate. They actually called him in to tell him off.

I personally would have told them to take a running jump, but hey!

I looked at the IP address of the people who looked at my site from Bern in Switzerland on sitemeter.

Admin.ch is the governmental ISP

Lady Thinker - are you hosting debates in here now? Anxious times for you with your hard-earned cash - I think I'd withdraw it pronto, if you can...

I've been to see Henry and his dog now, they're both cute - are you on Facebook as well...?

Have you noticed how Blogger is speaking German today - or is it just me? x

Henry - don't worry re the Swiss checking you out - it's not as if you wanna move there. They probably lost interest as soon as they saw you wanted to go to Abbaland. The Swiss are beginning to have problem with gun crimes..

Mark - we have no Northern Rock band in the area - I would have to go to Newcastle by Flybe or drive up to Cheltenham - and I don't want to do that just to queue all day to collect a cheque that might well bounce by Monday! Online access is impossible - but I may set the alarm and try at 3.30 a.m. Anyway I'll rely on getting 90% of my savings back by the FSA Ins scheme if the worse comes to the worse. Luckily I don't have millions in there and what they do have of mine is under the £35k cut off point.

Hello Merryw.. - yes it could be I rather like the idea of debating soirees .... I'm hoping that Mark will eventually spill the beans on how to legit. shelter my money from the clutches of the tax man (in the way Lord Levy manages to do) - without my having to pay £100+ PER HOUR for the knowledge.

glad you found henry's dog on facebook - I couldn't quite remember how I got there in the end ... but persistnce does pay off .. I only registered on facebook to try and read my nephew's entry but not managed to find his yet ... I think it's a ploy on his behalf to keep me in ignorance. I think facebook very cluttered and confusing.

I din't notice German but only whizz through its porthole to the important pages - these! But then again the German language may well become official as per my posting a few weeks ago ..

Nice to see you all ... hope you'll come again... sorry no biscuits available..

That whole German thing is weird (it started yesterday evening), but I speak German so it doesn't actually bother me. I'll try and change it anyway.

Re Sitemeter privacy, I may check that up.
